About
The Shanghai National Exhibition and Convention Center has seen the completion of its first exhibition hall, Hall B. On October 19, the China International Automobile Expo will take place in Hall B. A day earlier, as a prelude to this inaugural exhibition, the Qingpu District Government held an event at the North Square of the National Exhibition Center titled "National Exhibition Center Construction Commendation Performance & the Launch of the 11th Shanghai Qingpu Dianshan Lake Culture and Art Festival," which is part of the Shanghai International Arts Festival. Reporters learned that the "China International Automobile Expo" and the "China International Motorcycle and Parts Exhibition" will be held from October 19 to 21 at the National Exhibition Center. These events will serve as the center's inaugural exhibitions, spanning a total exhibition area of 100,000 square meters. The expos will utilize four major exhibition halls in the northern area of Hall B at the National Exhibition Center, along with outdoor exhibition spaces. Concurrently, there will be world-class motorcycle stunt and car drift performances, high-profile forums, new technology launches, and procurement matchmaking meetings. Inside the exhibition halls today, reporters saw final cleaning and setup preparations underway both inside and outside the venue. By following the expo’s official WeChat and Weibo accounts and scanning the QR code, visitors to the venue can exchange the QR code freely for a ticket worth 50 yuan. The National Exhibition and Convention Center is located in Xujing, the eastern wing of Qingpu's "One City, Two Wings" development plan, west of the Hongqiao Transportation Hub. It covers an area of 860,000 square meters, with a total planned building area of approximately 1.47 million square meters. Upon completion, it will feature 400,000 square meters of indoor exhibition space and 100,000 square meters of outdoor exhibition area, making it the convention center with the largest area of column-free exhibition halls in the country and among the best in the world. It is reported that the northern exhibition halls became operational in September this year, with all halls scheduled to be completed by March next year, and the entire complex fully operational by June. Furthermore, the National Exhibition and Convention Center has already signed contracts for 2015, securing a total of 29 agreements. The contracted exhibition area is expected to reach 3.5 to 4 million square meters annually, generating venue rental income of up to 500 million yuan. During the commendation event, some outstanding builders were honored. Artists performed original programs rich in the Qingpu region’s character to show their sympathy and respect for the builders of the National Exhibition and Convention Center. It is understood that, during the festival period, Qingpu will feature activities themed around the construction of Metro Line 17, encompassing stations like Hongqiao Station, Dream Station, Songze Station, Ancient Town Station, and Poetry View Station, fully showcasing the city's economic, social, and cultural development. The district will also focus on the fusion of local culture and high art, with over 50 series and more than 200 individual screenings and activities planned.
