About

To promote trade between Taiwan Province and the international community and accelerate the growth of Taiwan's economy, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) established the Taipei World Trade Center on July 1, 1970. At that time, TAITRA had not yet set up a venue specifically for displaying export products. Four years later, the first professional international exhibition in Taipei was held at the Grand Hotel, under the name Taiwan Export Garment Show. Subsequently, a TAITRA exhibition hall was set up at Taipei's Songshan Airport, which also exposed its shortcomings in scale. The Taipei World Trade Center Co., Ltd. facilitated the development of exhibition venues, but due to problems in architectural planning, exhibitions had to be held using temporary halls on Xinyi Road or the TAITRA exhibition hall at Songshan Airport. In 1981, a construction plan by the Taiwan authorities was granted priority to commence in 1982 and was completed three years later, finally resolving the problem of lacking a fixed exhibition venue. The Taipei World Trade Center Nangang Exhibition Hall is a two-story building with a total floor area of 35,600 square meters and a very expansive site. It comprises nine floors in total—seven above ground and two underground—yielding a total floor space of 144,000 square meters. The hall can be configured into approximately 2,628 booths, more than twice the capacity of the first floor of the Taipei
