Shanghai Expo China National Pavilion features an architectural appearance inspired by the "Crown of the East" theme, expressing the spirit and temperament of Chinese culture. The National Pavilion rises in the center with layered overhangs, forming a significant Chinese sculpture embodying Chinese elements and representative spirit in the Crown of the East; the Regional Pavilion extends horizontally, creating an open, flexible, friendly, and richly layered city square with a broad foundation platform reminiscent of the National Museum; the two complement each other as a unified whole, jointly conveying the theme of a prosperous nation. With the functional layout of the National Pavilion and Regional Pavilion, the principal and subordinate forms, and the north-south spatial axis, a spectacular sequence of urban space is formed, creating a unique landmark ensemble. Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center is located on the west side of the Expo Axis. Covering 11.5 hectares, it has a total building area of 152,000 square meters, including 93,000 square meters above ground comprising the south and north entrance halls, central hall, Exhibition Halls 1, 2, and 3, and VIP reception areas; the underground building area of 93,000 square meters consists of Exhibition Hall 4, Exhibition Hall 5, meeting rooms, business areas, parking areas, and equipment rooms. Outdoor spaces feature three squares (South Square, North Square, and Hui Square) and two discharge areas (East and European-American discharge areas). The layout integrates 100,000 square meters of indoor and outdoor exhibition space. The 70,000-square-meter indoor exhibition area is divided into four halls: the smallest hall covers 7,000 square meters, while the largest covers 25,000 square meters, making it the largest exhibition space in Asia. A 10,000-square-meter multifunctional central hall, a 3,000-square-meter conference area with a total of 11 meeting rooms of various sizes, and over 90,000 square meters of built space that can serve as high-grade office areas, business services, dining, and equipment facilities, etc. The outdoor exhibition area spans 20,000 square meters, alongside indoor venues and exhibition halls.
