The first phase of the Expo Centre includes the South Entrance, Halls 4 to 1 on the west side, and the connecting passage to the south metro station. The total investment for Phase 1 amounts to $99 million. Currently, there are 9 exhibition halls, all designed with a pillar-free layout. Each hall covers an area of 70 square meters, with a total indoor exhibition area of 103,500 square meters and an outdoor exhibition area of 100,000 square meters. The Expo Centre is still undergoing expansion, expected to be completed by 2010. Upon completion, it will be equipped with 18 exhibition halls, expanding the indoor exhibition area to 200,000 square meters and the outdoor exhibition area to 130,000 square meters. Facilities at the Expo Centre include exhibition halls, a conference center, a business center, a hotel, banking, postal services, transportation services, and dining, among others. Both domestic and international suppliers can hold various types of exhibitions here. Each hall at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre measures 70m × 185 meters, covering an area of 11,547 square meters. The exhibition halls on the ground floor feature a pillar-free structure. As of 2013, the venue has 11 exhibition halls, encompassing an indoor area of 126,500 square meters and an outdoor exhibition area of 100,000 square meters. The comprehensive expansion plan for SNIEC is scheduled for completion in 2010, at which point the indoor area will reach 200,000 square meters and the outdoor area 130,000 square meters. Upon completion, there will be 17 exhibition halls, three entrance halls, and one tower building. Based on market demand, an additional tower will also be constructed, comprising hotels, office spaces, and a conference center. The first-phase project in 2013 had a total investment of $99 million, covering four exhibition halls, one entrance hall, 45,000 square meters of indoor exhibition area, and 20,000 square meters of outdoor area. The ground load capacity is 30 kN/square meter, with free height ranging from 11 to 17 meters. Each hall is equipped with 8 gates, measuring 5.3 × 4.1 meters. The exhibition halls are functionally divided into sections including an entrance, flexible unloading area, equipment area, offices, cafeteria, restaurant, and crate storage.
