Shanghai Exhibition Center, also known as Shanghai Exhibition Center, is located in the Jing'an District at the center of Shanghai. Shanghai Exhibition Center has hosted many important exhibitions both at home and abroad, and has played a significant role in the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, Political Consultative Conference, and government work conferences. It plays a tremendous role in economic, political, technological, cultural, and other aspects. The main building of Shanghai Exhibition Center was built in March 1955. It currently has an exhibition hall area of 22,000 square meters, covering a total area of 93,000 square meters, of which the floor area is 80,000 square meters. It boasts over 40 multi-functional meeting rooms and conference halls that can accommodate dozens of people. In the south exhibition area, there is a Sequence Hall, Central Hall, East Hall, European and American Hall, and two West Halls; in the north conference area, there are the East Hall and two Friendship Halls (Museum). The outdoor site is naturally divided into 6 areas, where temporary exhibition halls of about 10,000 square meters can be built, making the total exhibition hall area exceed 30,000 square meters to meet the needs of large-scale exhibitions. Shanghai Exhibition Center was the venue for the earliest exhibitions held in Shanghai after the founding of New China. Over the past forty years, many important political and diplomatic events have taken place here, receiving three generations of Party leaders and dozens of heads of state and government, and hosting hundreds of domestic and international exhibitions. It has become the city's major convention and exhibition center and a renowned exhibition venue, serving as a window for international exchange. In 1954, the Shanghai municipal government launched the Sino-Soviet Friendship construction project on the ruins. After several changes, it was officially named Shanghai Exhibition Center in 1984. Since its completion, Shanghai Exhibition Center has not only hosted many important exhibitions at home and abroad, but has also played a significant role in the Shanghai Municipal People's Congress, Political Consultative Conference, and government work conferences, playing an important role in the economic, political, scientific, technological, and other fields.
