About
The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is located in Wan Chai District, Hong Kong, facing Victoria Harbour. Hong Kong's most renowned exhibitions are all held at the Convention and Exhibition Centre, with the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) operating the venue year-round for exhibitions. Through Phase I, Phase II, and Phase III expansion projects, the centre has grown into a 5-storey exhibition complex, also providing a wide range of large-scale conference and event venues. The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre is situated in the Wan Chai district of Hong Kong, forming part of the area’s newest waterfront building complex and standing as one of its most iconic representatives. In addition to hosting large-scale conventions and exhibitions, the centre also incorporates two five-star hotels, an office tower and a luxury apartment building. The entire site was built on reclaimed land, and within it contains several grand halls and large exhibition halls distributed across three floors, making it one of the largest exhibition venues in the world. The 1997 Handover Ceremony of Hong Kong was also held at the Convention and Exhibition Centre, where it became a focal point of international attention, and its distinctive wing-like roof structure, resembling a bird in flight, has added numerous highlights to the beautiful Victoria Harbour. The Convention and Exhibition Centre is solely owned by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council and managed by the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (Management) Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of NWS Holdings. The Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre officially commenced operations as early as November 1988. Since then, Hong Kong's trade exhibition industry has grown more profitable year after year, establishing the city’s pivotal status as an international convention venue and a trade hub for the Asian region. When the Convention and Exhibition Centre opened in 1988, its construction cost was HK$1.6 billion (US$207 million), a figure that does not include the land premium.
