About
Shijiazhuang International Convention and Exhibition Center is situated on the south bank of the Hutuo River in southern Hebei, bordered by Taiping North Road and extending south-east to the planned branch road. The total site area covers approximately 68.5 hectares, with 160,000 square meters of above‑ground floor space and 30,000 square meters of underground space, including a 100,000‑square‑meter exhibition center, a 60,000‑square‑meter conference center, and supporting facilities. As of early May 2008, the total construction period for the Center is three years, with a total investment of RMB 2 billion, funded by the city of Shijiazhuang and allocated over the three‑year period. The complex is regarded as a landmark event for the city and a major step in implementing the principle of “a significant leap forward every three years.” It is seen as instrumental in improving urban functions, elevating the city’s image, strengthening its competitiveness, and extending its influence. The geographical and economic advantages of the Shijiazhuang International Convention and Exhibition Center position it as an outward‑looking, multi‑functional hub for international exchange, conferences, and exhibitions—integrating political, economic, and cultural dimensions in North China. It plays a leading role in agglomeration, radiation, service provision, and driving the regional economy. These strengths determine that Shijiazhuang, oriented towards both the eastern and western worlds, will become a crucial gateway connecting the eastern seaboard with the western interior and emerge as the core of economic development in northern China. The location is outstanding. The Center lies in the central‑southern part of Hebei Province within the Bohai Bay Economic Zone. It sits at the intersection of China’s three major economic belts, bridging the east and west, and fulfilling a critical role in national economic development that links north and south. The city possesses a solid industrial base and robust scientific and technological capability: it is the country’s largest pharmaceutical manufacturing base and an important textile hub. In an era of rapid global economic integration, Shijiazhuang leverages its own strengths to vigorously pursue a coordinated three‑region development strategy, push forward industrial breakthroughs, and accelerate the growth of modern agriculture and services. These fact‑based development strategies constitute a powerful engine for economic growth.
