AsiaWorld-Expo is a world-class venue and exhibition development project, commissioned by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government under a public-private partnership, with architectural design and master planning by Luen Yee Architects, utilizing land from the Hong Kong airport. The project cost over HK$2.3 billion and features a gross floor area of 112,840 square meters, with a rentable area of 70,000 square meters. It is suitable for exhibitions, conferences, concerts, sports, and various cultural and entertainment events. There are 10 column-free exhibition halls on the ground floor, including AsiaWorld-Arena, Hong Kong’s largest indoor multi-purpose venue capable of holding 14,000 spectators, and the Hong Kong-based AsiaWorld-Summit, the largest and newest indoor summit combination and world-class exhibition and convention banquet facility that can accommodate 700 to 3,800 people. This modern facility features well-developed transport networks that connect to cities in the Pearl River Delta and global business hubs. The AsiaWorld-Expo complex is divided into two phases: Phase one involved constructing approximately 60,000 square meters of exhibition venues and related ancillary facilities. Phase two will include around 40,000 square meters of exhibition space and additional supporting facilities, totaling approximately 100,000 square meters. Taking airspace height restrictions into account, the project design opted for horizontal development. This approach also allows the venues to easily transform into flexible configurations for conference halls, central-stage performance halls, or other entertainment and sports events. Inspired by aircraft exteriors, the project's façade features a streamlined design, enhancing its visual impact. The exhibition halls comprise 10 modern venues designed without large-span steel structural columns. The eight halls on the ground floor are aligned on both sides, opening onto a wide central thoroughfare that provides easy access to various halls and other areas. The exhibition halls can be divided into various sizes at any time to host exhibitions of different scales. The hall area can be expanded from 5,700 to approximately 48,000 square meters. Two independent large-scale halls can each individually provide no less than 10,000 square meters of exhibition space. In addition to exhibition halls, the venue includes facilities for business offices, conference rooms, shopping and dining halls, and banquet halls, along with dressing rooms and backstage facilities for entertainment events and performances. All aforementioned activities have taken into full consideration indoor acoustics, electrical and sound insulation requirements, and have undergone thorough assessment and design for air-conditioning and fire safety systems at all levels. This assures high-caliber exhibitors and visitors of a high-value, comfortable exhibition environment. AsiaWorld-Expo works in close cooperation with multiple top-tier international exhibition facilities, catering fully to the diverse needs of exhibition organizers, exhibitors, and visitors. The Expo provides over 70,000 square meters of rental space, including 10 single, ground-level, column-free exhibition halls, and well-appointed facilities, offering more than 66,000 square meters of exhibition area. The Expo halls are also particularly suited as performance venues. AsiaWorld-Arena’s stage is equipped with high-grade soundproofing, celebrity-level backstage amenities, and a flexible combined seating system accommodating 13,500 people. All halls can be used independently or interconnected with other venues to meet the demands of different types of exhibition events. AsiaWorld-Expo is equipped with comprehensive conference facilities, successfully accommodating everything from intimate gatherings of 12 to large conventions with up to 30,000 active participants. Furthermore, the conference center, located on two levels, not only boasts unmatched sea views but also offers a wide selection of catering services. AsiaWorld-Expo features a new generation of information and communication technology services to meet the needs of conference organizers and participants from around the world. All meeting rooms are integrated with underground public service infrastructure, providing data transmission, telecommunications, and wireless local area network services.
